Servings:

6-8

Cooking Time:

Prep: 10 minutes, Cook: 35-45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of cornbread mix
  • 2 or 3 eggs, maybe 4 if needed.
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1-2 tsp sage, dried or fresh, to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Ingredients:

  • ½ cup chopped onions
  • ½ cup chopped celery
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms
  • giblets from turkey or chicken; or shredded chicken

Instructions:

  • Bake the cornbread mixture according to the directions on the box, but leave out the sugar.
  • Allow the cornbread to cool and then remove it from the pan.
  • Crumble the cornbread into a mixing bowl.
  • Add your eggs, onion, chicken broth, sage, salt and pepper. This recipe calls for canned chicken broth, if you use this, go easy on the salt.
  • Mix all the ingredients together well.
  • Place mixture into a greased baking pan and bake at 350° F until it browns on top, about 15-20 minutes.
