Cooking Time:
Prep: 10 minutes, Cook: 35-45 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 box of cornbread mix
- 2 or 3 eggs, maybe 4 if needed.
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1-2 tsp sage, dried or fresh, to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Ingredients:
- ½ cup chopped onions
- ½ cup chopped celery
- ½ cup sliced mushrooms
- giblets from turkey or chicken; or shredded chicken
Instructions:
- Bake the cornbread mixture according to the directions on the box, but leave out the sugar.
- Allow the cornbread to cool and then remove it from the pan.
- Crumble the cornbread into a mixing bowl.
- Add your eggs, onion, chicken broth, sage, salt and pepper. This recipe calls for canned chicken broth, if you use this, go easy on the salt.
- Mix all the ingredients together well.
- Place mixture into a greased baking pan and bake at 350° F until it browns on top, about 15-20 minutes.
