Cincinnati Chile

Prep: 5 minutes, Cook: 130 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart water
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp cloves, ground
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • In large pot, bring the water to a boil.
  • Add the beef, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
  • Add the tomato sauce and vinegar.
  • Reduce the heat.
  • Add the spices and simmer for two hours.
  • Serve with any combination of the following: cooked spaghetti, grated cheddar cheese, kidney beans, diced onions, and oyster crackers.

The chili tastes best if refrigerated overnight.
