Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies
This is the best Oatmeal Cookie I have ever tasted and is my family's favorite. This is a recipe that I have had for years that a friend of mine gave me.

Makes 4 Dozen
Cooking Time:
Prep: 10 minutes, Bake: 10-12 minutes
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
- Beat eggs and combine with raisins and vanilla. Let soak for at least an hour.
- Cream shortening (I use butter flavored shortening) and sugars together.
- Sift dry ingredients into sugar mixture. Mix well.
- Blend in remaining ingredients.
- Shape into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake in 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven 10 -12 minutes. Do not overbake.
