Welcome to the New Professional Recipes Blog!

I’ve successfully moved the blog and all of its content to a new server and integrated it with the website, including a sleek new design! I hope everyone likes the new look of the blog and, when it’s finished, the new version of the main site. Check there for more recipes: Professional Recipes.

The blog has been reorganized by Topics and there is a Topic menu on the right side in ABC order for easy browsing. You can find the Latest Recipes from the website are also listed on the left with an RSS icon where you can subscribe to the Latest Recipes Feed! And lastly the blog is integrated with our Twitter account and Facebook page as well.

If you have any comments or suggestions for the blog or the new site coming soon, please leave a comment!

New Food and Ingredients Section

I’ve added a new section to the website all about different types of food and ingredients with more articles coming over the next few weeks. It’ll have information about where the ingredients come from, how they are used, recipes to prepare using those ingredients and other interesting information.

There will be a Food and Ingredients home page listing the food items alphabetically and as new articles are added, this page will be updated. Here is the link:

Food and Ingredients Home Page

At the moment, there are articles about the following:

  • Garlic – a favorite of mine!
  • Ginger – more common than you think!
  • Kale – one of the healthiest foods around.

Have any suggestions for new articles? Leave a comment here and I’ll be sure to update the site. Cheers!

New Survey on PR, Who's Going to Win Hell's Kitchen?

I’ve updated the main site, as hopefully you’ve seen, and just added a new survey about one of my favorite topics here, the show Hell’s Kitchen. I enjoy watching it and can sit back and laugh at some of the mistakes, seeing and doing some of them. Other times I am simply appalled at other mistakes… mistakes that just cannot be made in a professional kitchen.

I’m not sure who I like at this point, but Carol has shown some promise and is a favorite in my mind. Giovanni has gotten better of late with a nice team effort on the red team and a winning dish for the red team in the challenge the other night. The others really haven’t shown a lot of promise and there is no other clear favorite that I can pick out.

So, who do you think is going to win Hell’s Kitchen and the head chef position at the Borgata in Atlantic City (somewhere I can actually visit relatively easily for once!)?

Firewalker T-Bone Steak Recipe – Featured Recipe

The latest Featured Recipe on Professional Recipes is the Firewalker T-Bone Steak. A recipe I dug up just recently in one of my cookbooks that is wonderful to prepare for a backyard barbeque. Throw a few of these on the grill with your favorite sides dish recipes or some Poultry and Pork Recipes for some variety and your BBQ will be a summer hit.

Launch of Professional Recipes

Hello everyone,

I’m proud to “officially” announce the launch of the new www.professionalrecipes.com, or simply Professional Recipes. At 12:01 am on February 1st, 2008 the new version of the website launched, but there is much work to be done still.

I wanted to develop a content-rich website that offers gourmet and homemade recipes, information on cooking including articles and “how-to’s”, allow visitors to submit their own recipes, cooking tips and provide a place for interaction and comments.

We’ve included links to submit articles and content pages to Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, and StumbleUpon. Feel free to Digg pages or bookmark them for future reference.

The site features:

- Featured Recipe – a recipe chosen by myself to be displayed prominently on the site and allow it to be voted on by visitors. Ratings will be included with each recipe in our index to give visitors an idea of what others thought of it.

- Great Articles and How-to’s – information on cooking, choose the right cookware, wonderful How-To’s and more.

- Submit Your Recipe – submit your own recipe to be included in our index or as a candidate for the Featured Recipe.

- Discussion and Comments – utilize this blog to comment on posts, articles, the Featured Recipe, or the Community Project.

- All Recipes – browse our recipe categories for great recipes, which we’ll be adding to constantly as time goes on.

I hope that you enjoy the new site and continue to visit and stop back for more great cooking or recipe ideas!

Professional Recipes Site Update

Trying to get a new website up with the holidays, even with some time off is difficult at best, especially when you’re doing it yourself! At this point, it’s simply optimize each page and make sure the content is readable and put on the finishing touches. The layout and styling was completed weeks ago, with several grueling hours spent fixing bugs in the different browsers (guess which one gave me the most trouble?).

This new design will incorporate easier to follow navigation, better organization and integrated search (courtesy of Google). Of course, I’ll be continually adding to the site… there’s probably a thousand recipes that need to be converted to the new format yet so unfortunately, those will take a while! I’m hoping that I will have some good recipes sent in by new visitors and there is a good response and participation. That’ll help get it off to a good start.

I’ll also be reintroducing articles, a feature I did away with long ago due to lack of time. Perhaps 1-2 per month to get it rolling, utilize digg.com and other sources to spread the word (Social Networking rocks!) .

One thing some of the visitors might not like is going to be the addition of sponsored links. Unfortunately, this is a necessary step to get the funding I need to build the site that I would like to build… a real community.

The new ProfessionalRecipes.com is targeted for the end of January for now. If anyone is interested, please feel free to visit the current site: Professional Recipes – Gourmet, Exotic and Homemade Recipes.

The First ProfessionalRecipes.com Blog Post

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog! This is the blog for ProfessionalRecipes.com and part of “phase 1″ of the latest incarnation of my website. Although I am familiar with blogging, this is the first time I’ll be blogging regularly (or as much as possible). While there is still lots of work to be done, this will serve as a place of information on the site, updates, interesting recipes, information about food and drink and any other topic that I feel pertain to the site and the community that I am hoping to build.

While the new site is not yet complete, it is very close and most likely by the time anyone reads this, it’ll be up and running smoothly. For those who have been to ProfessionalRecipes.com in the past, you’ll be surprised at the newest version of the site once it is completed. I’ve tried to go “web 2.0″ (or as close as possible) with a simplistic design, more recipes, etc. As time goes on, I’ll add new features to work towards the goal of a truly interactive community of sharing recipes, posting comments, messages, groups, etc. A lofty goal indeed!

For those who are new to ProfessionalRecipes.com, thank you for visiting the website. I hope you enjoyed your visit and found something of use. I encourage feedback about the site and the blog here (feel free to post a comment on either). Perhaps you found this blog first, if so, please take a look at the main site if you are interested in that sort of thing and let me know what you think.

That’s about it for now. Stay tuned for more information and I’ll do my best to keep you updated! Glad to be aboard the wordpress.com ship, looking forward to the ride!
